I did a loose braid-out on my leave-out instead of trying to copy every curl. Once I fluffed everything together, the slight difference in texture actually made the style look more natural.
It sounds extra, but I know exactly which pieces I like on the left, right and back now. My installs are way more consistent because of it.
I brought the extensions to my stylist and had her blend the longest sections into my natural shape. That small haircut made them feel completely different.
I wanted the extensions closer to my brown hair but didn't trust myself to experiment. Having them professionally adjusted was worth it for me.
My natural density isn't perfectly even, so I stopped forcing myself to use the same number of pieces on both sides. A little asymmetry actually gives me a better finished look.
For a normal workday I use a very specific group of pieces that gives me shape without too much volume. It feels polished but still like my usual hair.

Baby, it looks like its growing from my scalp. I first did boho braids for 1 week. After that week, I reused the same exact hair to do a full install without having boho braids, just crochet in. I'm in love with my style.
